He is the father of Homeopathy. His full name is Dr.Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann. He was born on 10th April, 1755 at Meissen, in Saxony of Germany. In 1790, whilst translating Cullen's materia medica, he came upon an idea which was to be the germ of this completely new system of medicine - Homeopathy. In the year 1796, the discovery was brought to light in his eassy titled "An essay on a new principle for ascertaining the curative powers of drugs and some examinations of the previous principles.". He put forward his new doctrine of Similia Similibus Curantur (like cures like). In 1805, he published Medicine of experience and his 'organon of the rational art of healing' was published in 1810. The first volume of his Materia Medica Pura, the record of only the symptoms produced by the drugs on healthy human beings was published in 1811. Hahnemann breathed his last on 2nd July 1843 at the age of 88 years. He died at the pinnacle of glory and triumph, name, fame, success and prosperity.
